Learn from Bloggers: Meet Marianne of Anne Wonders, Beauty and Lifestyle Blogger

If you want to learn more about blogging, the best way is to learn from others. In this series of articles, “portrait of a blogger”, I am choosing an advanced Filipino blogger to tell you about their tips, mistakes and own insights about their blogging journey. And this to help yours. As they took the time to answer those questions, I am thanking them in advance, and I am inviting you to check their website and work.

Today, we are with….

Who are you?

Hey there! I’m Marianne, the blogger behind the Beauty and Lifestyle blog, Anne Wonders. I’m your next door bibliophile, self-taught makeup artist, beauty junkie and photographer wannabe.

Aside from being a blogger, I balance my time doing my day job as a Digital Marketing Specialist and managing my online shop called Ma/ri MNL.

Some of my works have been noticed by brands/companies and influencers like Miniso, LA Girl Cosmetics and Custom Thread.

What is your blog about?

Anne Wonders is a beauty and lifestyle blog. Started as a book review space, now, Anne Wonder is dedicated to bring everyone a platform that gives them a destination where to dine and shop, a peak on my coveted (really affordable!) beauty products and bring them to my journey in learning how to achieve the simplest makeup and fashion looks.

In addition to these and to my goal to be connected to my readers, I also share my thoughts, inspirations and advice that once helped and is helping me in life.

When and why did you start this blog?

I started blogging way back in my 2nd year of college and it was actually inspired by my enviousness towards my classmate.

She had a blog and used to write book reviews. We had the same interest in books and it actually got me to thinking, “if she can do it, why can’t I?”

I also love books.

It sounded really bad and far from inspirational but if it wasn’t for that, I wouldn’t be able to realize a hidden passion and interest in writing

Technical question: what hosting service and what blogging platform do you use?

Anne Wonders has been hosted under JustHost (formerly E-host) and will continue only until last week of March before it get transferred to Bluehost. In terms of blogging platform, it used to be Blogspot but now it is WordPress.

Which social media do you use and why?

I actually own two accounts on both Instagram and Facebook because I recently decided to make a new one for my makeup tutorials.

So, I basically use almost all social media platforms in reaching my audiences. I feel like being present in all makes it easier for anyone to connect/engage with you and gives people more options to do so, too.

Also, as a blogger, it gives me the space to experiment which platform best benefits me.

My main account is always named MSANNEWNDR  on all social media platforms; FacebookInstagramTwitter and Pinterest. And as for my makeup tutorials it’s XANNEWNDR on Facebook and Instagram.

Some stats about your blog & social media

There are about 414 people who are part of the AW Family on Facebook, 419 on Twitter, 6.7k monthly unique viewers and 516 followers on Pinterest, and 1,388 on Instagram.

I am hoping that this numbers continue to increase and people continue to grow with me.

What is your greatest achievement since the beginning of your blogging journey?

It is definitely being able to get out of my comfort zone and just express myself.

I used to be really shy and now, I enjoy connecting and engaging with everyone.

What is your greatest failure (or worst experience) as well?

I guess my failure is not being able to utilize the potential of my blog to become so much more. I’ve been in the blogging industry for quite a while now and it is just these past few months that I had a sudden realization that I’m not taking advantage of what it can contribute to me and to my audiences.

What would your advice to people who want to start blogging or who are new into blogging?

Blogging seemed to have gained a different meaning to the generation today.

People have perceived it as a new way of becoming famous, earning money and getting free stuff that they have forgotten that it is so much more than that.

I’d like to remind everyone who would like to start blogging to actually reflect if this is something you’d like to start not because what I’ve mentioned above but because you want to do it regardless of what you’ll be receiving, may it monetary or fame.

You need to have the passion and real dedication in it because as some people may make it as “so easy”, it actually is not. You have to welcome the fact that you’ll be spending such amount of time, shelling out your own money and more importantly, you are putting yourself out there for everyone to see, hear and judge.

Lastly, may you use your platform to influence people to be better and always be yourself. It is okay to compare yourself (it’s normal) but may it not hinder you express yourself fully.

Who are the bloggers you follow and why?

I’ve been following , MadLove Blog,, Gal Meets Glam, Sincerely Jules and The Chriselle Factor since  the beginning.

The Pintsized Beauty and Thirteen Thoughts have helped me a lot in learning all the tips and tricks. From flatlays, lighting, camera settings to knowing what topics to write.

They just really inspire me to create better contents. And to learn more of what I can do a content creator.

Any last word to say to the readers?

I hope you guys have learned something from me. I’ll be happy to welcome you all to the AW Family.

Thank you so much for your time!
